We are now looking for a new team member for our client ECDC in Stockholm. The interim will report to the Group Leader of the SPM Section. Your responsibility includes:
Support the ECDC modelling team in the design, development and application of mathematical models to address public health questions
Managing service contracts with external contractors in liaison with procurement and finance sections at ECDC
Critically reviewing relevant and current literature and assess the value for the Modelling Team’s work
Maintain, apply, and develop mathematical modelling code for ECDC relevant projects
Contribute to establishing and sustaining mathematical modelling networks within Member States’ public health institutes and academic institutions
Building modelling capacity for the use in public health within ECDC and beyond



In addition to the profile specification, these specific competences and experience are required for the current assignment:
Education at university level within a scientific field relevant to ECDC’s remit (e.g. infectious diseases epidemiology, biomedical sciences, mathematics, applied mathematics, mathematical modelling or related), and first experience acquired in positions relevant to the job description

Your responsibilities
As a Data Scientist (ML specialist) you are expected to work together with the R&D Data Analytics team on full-cycle, end-to-end data science projects which requires leveraging state-of-the art machine learning techniques, statistical methods and other advanced analytics tools so as to deliver solutions to complex business problems. Through this role you will have the opportunity to collaborate and develop your career together with business domain experts and other experienced data scientists throughout the organization.
At R&D, the data analytics work deals with numbers, text, and images about and from Vattenfall's assets, operations, and customers to do prediction, description, automation, integration, optimization, and visualization using machine learning and other statistical methods, in languages such as R, Python, and Julia on (mostly) Microsoft's Azure platform. We are involved from start to finish in the process, as described below.
Framing and scoping advanced analytics projects for business development with stakeholders
Collecting, prepping, cleaning, and processing data in various types, formats and platforms
Exploring and mapping the complexities of reality and its representation in the data together with domain experts
Doing contextual analysis, explanatory models, and feature extraction/engineering
Developing novel algorithms and models
Parallelization of data processing pipelines
Testing, validating, and iterating points 3-6 until we (a) can deliver usable and relevant results or (b) understand why we cannot
Helping the stakeholders to understand and implement what we deliver (or recommending measures to be taken to achieve success)
Working with IT in putting prototypes and proof-of-concepts into production
Educating Vattenfall about data, advanced analytics, machine learning, and related topics

Your Profile
Master of Science degree (or higher) in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Statistics, or related areas

Data och Nätverkskoordinering:
Ta fram rapporter och förbereda statistik från insamlade data till våra användare
Utveckla och upprätthålla ett effektivt system för att följa datakvalitet
Att aktiv hjälpa ansvarig forskare med studier baserad på data från SITS registret.
Sammanställa studierapport, tex. delrapport, interminanalys, slutrapport
Användarsupport

Nätverkshantering, Stöd och Underhåll:
Producera nätverksrapporter, presentationer och nyhetsbrev
Stödja våra internationella nätverks- och forskningsaktörer
Planera, utveckla och genomföra nätverksplanen i samarbete med SITS ledningen och de övriga internationella nätverks- och forskningsaktörerna

We are looking for a bright and driven person to become Telenor’s ESR within the European Commission SEMANTIC Research & Development project. You will work on data driven network control and automation algorithms and solutions research and development.

What you’ll do
In this role, you will perform research and development of algorithms and solutions on data driven network control and automation for network orchestration approaches for 5G networks and beyond during the 3 years (2020-2023) of duration of the SEMANTIC project. During this period, you will be part of Telenor’s Networks team. To join our team, we are looking for a curious and multi-skilled Early Stage Researcher who loves creating world class algorithms and solutions for data driven network control and automation processes. You are a passionate about driving your work from idea to execution and to optimization.  

Who are you
You are, at the time of recruitment, in the first four years of your research career and you do not have a doctoral degree. This is measured from the date when you obtained your degree, which formally entitles you to embark on a doctorate. Furthermore, you have not lived in Sweden for more than 12 months in the previous 36 months. If selected for the position, it is mandatory to be enrolled in a PhD at the recruiting country/city (i.e. Sweden).

To become our ESR, you are driving, curious and self-going. Team player. Proficient in English. You can acquire and work with large amount of data, even remotely (network KPIs, network performance data from probes, etc.) and compare it and analyze it considering what is available in the literature. You are knowledgeable and experienced with C/C++; Python; ; JAVA and Linux. You also have the fundamental notions on Radio, Ethernet, IP, and Wi-Fi telecom technologies. Your main tasks are programming, research (via internet), algorithm test and development and equipment configuration and testing in laboratory environment.
