Location
The position is immediately available within the Software Development department at the main office in Stockholm. We adhere to a remote-friendly mindset, meaning that the work location is flexible for the right candidate.
About the position
The successful candidate will be working with development of models for quantitative prediction of materials properties. The position is also involved in writing and maintaining tests in the Continuous Integration infrastructure (currently Jenkins), maintaining and developing other parts of the software, second-line support and similar tasks. The work will be characterized by an open atmosphere, where ideas and suggestions are encouraged.
Qualifications
• Minimum a Master’s degree, preferably a PhD degree, in physics, materials science or related fields.
• Several years of experience in software development and/or modeling of mechanical properties of materialsis required.
• Experience in object-oriented programming using for example python or java will be considered a strong merit.
• Experience in Machine Learning will be considered a merit.
• Knowledge of thermodynamics, phase transformations and the Calphad method will also be a merit but is not a requirement.
• The successful candidate is structured, hardworking and possesses a strong analytical mindset.
• Excellent proficiency in English, both written and spoken, is required.

Primary responsibilities
The successful candidate will join our Structure-based Materials Property team based in Stockholm and will be working on the development of quantitative models for predicting materials properties that are dependent on materials structures. Responsibilities includes:
· Development and implementation of both new and existing models connecting structure and mechanic properties of materials.
· Working in the entire project process, including conceptualization, analysis, design, implementation, testing, refinement, verification, and validation.
· Collaborating with our Data and Software development teams to efficiently build the model into our software products.
Qualifications and skills
? Graduate degree (PhD or equivalent) in Materials or Mechanical Science and Engineering.
? Enjoying team work and demonstrated ability to work autonomously.
? Comprehensive knowledge and deep understanding of structure-mechanical property relationship of materials.
? Excellent track record in modelling structure-based mechanical properties of materials.
? Programming experience in Python, Java, or other programming language.
? Strong communication skills.


It is also meritorious if you have experience or interest in any of the following:
? Mathematics and/or Numerical methods
? Thermodynamic and /or kinetic modelling using CALPHAD tools
? Machine learning and Artificial Intelligence


Proficiency in English, both written and spoken language, is required.

Primary responsibilities
As a Materials CALPHAD Database Developer, you will lead or join a specific project to develop materials databases for thermodynamic, kinetic and property calculations using the CALPHAD approach together with other methods, such as DFT. You will work independently and in teams, creating completely new databases or further improving existing ones that are critical to our business. You will take part in supporting and educating our clients for maximizing the impacts of our products in materials research and production.
Qualifications
· Strong competence in CALPHAD modelling. We believe you have a doctorate degree in material science or similar with extensive research experience in CALPHAD assessments.
· Proficient in using Thermo-Calc software package (or similar ones).
· Excellent track record in thermodynamic and/or kinetic modelling and assessments.
· Fluent in written and spoken English.
It will be a great advantage if you have knowledge and experience of ab-initio calculations, machine learning or computer programming. You should be self-directed, used to working independently and capable of handling parallel tasks. You are expected to enjoy teamwork.
