Primary responsibilities
As an Application Specialist, you will play an important role in communicating the benefits of our tools to potential users. Your primary responsibility will be to use your materials science background to research and develop application examples that showcase the capabilities of our software. You will collaborate with our database developers and sales team, interact with users, and monitor publications and presentations that use our tools to find and develop relevant and compelling use cases for our products. You will then use these to develop technical marketing pieces such as white papers, case studies, application examples, presentations, educational materials, and more to demonstrate the diverse functionalities and benefits of our software solutions to potential users, and to assist our sales, support, and training teams with technical content.
Responsibilities
• Develop application examples showcasing how our software directly addresses real-world challenges.
• Create technical marketing material such as case studies, white papers, and more showcasing how users can benefit from our tools.
• Partner with internal teams and external users to gather relevant information for creating technical marketing content.
• Track publications and presentations that use our products and create content around them, such as application examples.
• Communicate complex technical information in an easily understandable way for diverse audiences, from researchers to decision-makers.
• Develop technical content for our website, including product and methodology pages.
• Aid in the development of educational materials such as user onboarding content and tutorial guides.
• Assist in other technical marketing activities at Thermo-Calc Software AB as needed.
Qualifications
• We believe you have a master’s degree or higher in materials science or a related field
• Proficient in Thermo-Calc Software or other CALPHAD-based software
• Excellent communication skills, both written and oral
• Ability to collaborate with others and drive projects forward

About the position
The successful candidate will be working with development of models for quantitative prediction of materials properties. The position is also involved in writing and maintaining tests in the Continuous Integration infrastructure (currently Jenkins), maintaining and developing other parts of the software, second-line support and similar tasks. The work will be characterized by an open atmosphere, where ideas and suggestions are encouraged.
Qualifications
• Minimum a Master’s degree, preferably a PhD degree, in physics, materials science or related fields.
• Several years of experience in software development and/or modeling of mechanical properties of materialsis required.
• Experience in object-oriented programming using for example python or java will be considered a strong merit.
• Experience in Machine Learning will be considered a merit.
• Knowledge of thermodynamics, phase transformations and the Calphad method will also be a merit but is not a requirement.

Job description
Thermo-Calc Software is seeking a Technical and Marketing Writer to join our growing Stockholm office. The ideal candidate will have a solid background in technical writing and content management with experience or a keen interest in marketing writing. The job involves writing and researching technical topics, managing content, coordinating with various specialists and creating marketing materials. 


Responsibilities
Coordinate and collaborate with subject matter experts (SMEs) in the software and database development teams to gather information and develop content used in both technical and marketing documentation.
Work with the Senior Technical Writer and SMEs to coordinate, update, and develop the technical documentation. The customer documentation includes user and installation guides, online help, release notes, presentations, educational material, etc. 
Work with the Digital Marketing Specialist to develop relevant marketing materials in the form of newsletters, press releases, case studies, presentation materials, ads, release notes, product descriptions, etc.
Edit and/or write white papers, case studies and other content marketing on topics related to computational materials engineering and materials design.
Occasionally edit and/or write book chapters, research reports, and grant applications.
Assist with digital marketing campaigns and other marketing activities as needed.



Requirements
The ideal candidate has experience working in a technical and/or marketing writing role. Interest and curiosity with respect to science and engineering is crucial. Some familiarity with materials science, chemistry, physics or similar is a bonus. 
Minimum of five years of technical or marketing writing experience and/or a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field. 
Speak and write fluent English at a very high level.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
You are positive, self-motivated, and adaptable.
Comfortable learning new software tools. 
Highly organised and detail-oriented. 



Skills that are a Bonus
Experience:
·      Managing technical documentation in an online authoring tool such as MadCap Flare or Adobe Technical Communication Suite (e.g. FrameMaker, Acrobat, and RoboHelp).
·      Using Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign.
·      Developing newsletters or other digital marketing.
·      Working in WordPress and using social media.
