We are now looking for a new team member to ECDC (European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control) in Stockholm. You will work as a Junior Scientific Expert and support the DPR Unit (Disease Programme Unit) and in particular the Vaccine-Preventable Disease Section (VPD Section). The interim will report to the Head of Section VPD. This is a temporary assignment starting as soon as possible until the end of the year.

Support data collection and data validation processes and production of ECDC outputs (online or reports) in relation to vaccine-preventable-diseases or vaccines;
Support the organization of EU national immunisation technical advisory groups (NITAGs) collaboration activities (for more information on NITAGs see ECDC website, EU/EEA National Immunisation Technical Advisory Groups (NITAG) collaboration.
Support collection and systematization of information on relevant immunization policies, programme implementation and scientific evidence, as needed:
Contribute to the development of technical guidance on vaccination, provide rapid scientific opinion and conduct rapid literature review and assessment
Contribution to technical reports on vaccine-preventable diseases
Provide periodic updates to the VPI team on relevant scientific literature on topics of interest
Participation in VPI meetings and the daily ECDC round table (daily updates on certain topics).

These specific competences and experience are required for the current assignment:
University degree within the field of medicine, public health, epidemiology, or biosciences and related fields
Working experience of at least 2 years in the field of vaccine-preventable diseases in the area of public health, epidemiology and/or surveillance
Excellent communication skills (spoken and written)

Excellent oral and written communication skills (spoken and written)

Within that Unit, there is the section called: Healthcare-Associated Infections that is looking for interim support to work on a Project that ECDC is involved in: The Africa CDC Partnership Project. This is a temporary assignment starting as soon as possible and three months forward, and you should be available as soon as possible.
Tasks include:
Help finalise Africa CDC dashboard on AMR (Antimicrobial resistance) laboratory capacity;
Follow up activities outsourced to external consultants, especially on healthcare-associated infections and AMR surveillance;

Responsibilities
Facilitate surveillance and response activities by producing annual epidemiological reports.
Validating indicator-based surveillance data.
Monitoring and investigating potential cross-border foodborne outbreaks (following an established procedure).
Take part with the rest of the team to the roster for monitoring a generic mailbox.
Support the preparation of the annual epidemiological report for seasonal influenza with contributions from the rest of the team (foreseen in the second half of May).
Support procurement activities, such as the coordination of contracts on lab capacity building.
Support the organisation of working groups and network meetings for respiratory viruses and lab.


Qualifications
Education at university level in an area related to the activities of ECDC such as medicine, public health or similar, and relevant professional experience of at least 1 year following the award of the degree.

Precisionsmedicin och diagnostik är ett snabbt växande område där stora datamängder analyseras för att stödja processen att bestämma behandling för varje individuell patient. Vi bygger datanoden för att vara i spetsen på världsomspännande utveckling av precisionsmedicin och diagnostik där team med olika kompetenser samverkar för bättre vård för varje patient.

https://www.scilifelab.se/ är ett nav inom biovetenskaplig forskning i Sverige och ett forskningssamarbete mellan KTH, Karolinska Institutet, Stockholms universitet och Uppsala universitet, med ytterligare verksamhet på många stora lärosäten i landet. SciLifeLab har ett uppdrag från regeringen att verka som nationell infrastruktur för att tillgängliggöra spjutspetsteknologier och -expertis inom molekylära livsvetenskaper till forskare i Sverige samt utgöra ett internationellt ledande centrum för forskning inom områden som hälsa och miljö. Den anställde kommer att arbeta vid DDLS-programmets Data Science Node (DSN) för Precisionsmedicin och Diagnostik vid Karolinska Institutet (KI) och SciLifeLab Data Centre (DC). Denna DDLS nod arbetar specifikt med precisionsmedicin och diagnostik för att koordinera behovsinsamling för datatjänster och bioinformatiksupport, och på nationell nivå engagera forskningsmiljöer och användare inom fältet. Varje DDLS nod organiseras lokalt inom respektive värduniversitet och integreras i en stark miljö för forskning och datahantering för fältet.

Anställningen är vid Karolinska Institutet (KI) och har sin organisatoriska hemvist vid Compliance & Data Office (CDO), en enhet inom den centrala Avdelningen för forskarstöd (Research Support Office), på KI campus i norra Stockholm där även SciLifeLabs Stockholm site ligger. CDO erbjuder brett stöd till forskare inom ramen för datahantering, hälsodata, kliniska studier, etik och compliance, och nu via DDLS-programmet så utvecklas mer specifikt stöd inom precisionsmedicin och diagnostik. CDO samordnar också Research Data Office (RDO), en virtuell stödorganisation som består av experter från universitetsbiblioteket, IT-avdelningen, arkivet och juridiska avdelningen – till RDO knyts även nationella experter inom datastöd och strukturer via Svensk Nationell Datatjänst.

Arbetet leds av SciLifeLab Data Centre som ansvarar för IT-frågor och forskningsdatahantering för SciLifeLabs teknologiplattformar och andra SciLifeLab-organiserade program och aktiviteter, inklusive DDLS. Arbetsuppgifter:

KI och SciLifeLab Data Centre söker en motiverad och kunnig Data Steward med inriktning mot Precisionsmedicin och Diagnostik med placering vid KI:s Research Data Office (RDO) i Solna. Som Data Steward förväntas du delta i användarsupport och utveckling för datatjänster, med fokus på forskningsdatastöd, metadatahantering och datakurering som ska föra forskningsområdet framåt. Du förväntas även bistå med kommunikation med och träning av användare.,

Hos oss kommer du att arbeta med tjänster för att möjliggöra forskningsprojekt inom precisionsmedicin och diagnostik, ofta i samverkan med sjukvården. Detta kräver tekniska lösningar med hög nivå på säkerhet, dataintegritet och interoperabilitet, som måste utvecklas i samverkan med ingenjörer och utvecklare vid andra organisationer. Datamängderna är ofta stora och komplexa, vilket medför höga krav både på mjukvara och infrastruktur. Av särskild vikt blir lösningar för meta-datahantering och integration av datamängder från t.ex. biobanker, kvalitetsregister, kliniska prövningar, storskaliga molekylära mätdata och andra hälsodata. I ditt arbete som data steward kommer du arbeta direkt med datahantering, dels genom stöd till olika projekt och aktiviteter, men även genom att arbeta med ingenjörer och utvecklare i utvecklingen av datatjänster för området.

Kvalifikationskrav:

Ansökande ska ha universitetsexamen i ämne med anknytning till tjänsten. Utöver detta krävs:

- Dokumenterad bakgrund från bioinformatik eller life cience-forskning
- Dokumenterad erfarenhet från vetenskaplig datahantering, FAIR och öppen vetenskap
- Mycket goda kunskaper i engelska.

MSc, PhD or equivalent in statistics, biostatistics, epidemiology or in a related discipline
