Job description
We are now looking for a new team member to join ECDC (European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control) in Stockholm. Competences and experience

This is a temporary assignment starting as soon as possible and four months forward.
ECDC has introduced a hybrid working model with a minimum presence in the office of 2 days/week. It is a requirement that you are based in Sweden or can relocate here immediately. No remote work (from another country/city) is possible for this position.

Responsibilities
Facilitate surveillance and response activities by producing annual epidemiological reports.

A translational research platform has been set up using a multitude of pathology and genomic methods in a concerted effort to identify prognostic and predictive factors, with a special emphasis on the interactions between tumor and host. At the same time, the group conducts epidemiology research using the Swedish registries in order to provide answers to pertinent clinical questions within breast oncology. The group has a significant national and international presence and collaborations.

Your mission
We are looking for a highly motivated biostatistician to join our team, to work on translational projects, prospective clinical trials and epidemiology studies on breast cancer. The work involves data management, epidemiological study design and data analysis. The successful candidate will be joining a multidisciplinary team of clinical researchers, bioinformaticians, computer scientists, wet lab specialists and epidemiologists.

Your profile
The successful applicant should have the following qualifications:

- Candidate or master degree in statistics (mathematical statistics or medical statistics)
- PhD in the above fields is highly meritorious, but not a requirement for application
- At least 2 years of experience from working with medical research (academia or industry)
- Good knowledge of programming using statistical software, e.g. SAS, Stata or R

Den anställde kommer att arbeta vid DDLS-programmets Data Science Node (DSN) för Precisionsmedicin och Diagnostik vid Karolinska Institutet (KI) och SciLifeLab Data Centre (DC). Denna DDLS nod arbetar specifikt med precisionsmedicin och diagnostik för att koordinera behovsinsamling för datatjänster och bioinformatiksupport, och på nationell nivå engagera forskningsmiljöer och användare inom fältet. Varje DDLS nod organiseras lokalt inom respektive värduniversitet och integreras i en stark miljö för forskning och datahantering för fältet.

Anställningen är vid Karolinska Institutet (KI) och har sin organisatoriska hemvist vid Compliance & Data Office (CDO), en enhet inom den centrala Avdelningen för forskarstöd (Research Support Office), på KI campus i norra Stockholm där även SciLifeLabs Stockholm site ligger. CDO erbjuder brett stöd till forskare inom ramen för datahantering, hälsodata, kliniska studier, etik och compliance, och nu via DDLS-programmet så utvecklas mer specifikt stöd inom precisionsmedicin och diagnostik. CDO samordnar också Research Data Office (RDO), en virtuell stödorganisation som består av experter från universitetsbiblioteket, IT-avdelningen, arkivet och juridiska avdelningen – till RDO knyts även nationella experter inom datastöd och strukturer via Svensk Nationell Datatjänst.

Arbetet leds av SciLifeLab Data Centre som ansvarar för IT-frågor och forskningsdatahantering för SciLifeLabs teknologiplattformar och andra SciLifeLab-organiserade program och aktiviteter, inklusive DDLS. Arbetsuppgifter:

KI och SciLifeLab Data Centre söker en motiverad och kunnig Data Steward med inriktning mot Precisionsmedicin och Diagnostik med placering vid KI:s Research Data Office (RDO) i Solna. Som Data Steward förväntas du delta i användarsupport och utveckling för datatjänster, med fokus på forskningsdatastöd, metadatahantering och datakurering som ska föra forskningsområdet framåt. Du förväntas även bistå med kommunikation med och träning av användare.,

Hos oss kommer du att arbeta med tjänster för att möjliggöra forskningsprojekt inom precisionsmedicin och diagnostik, ofta i samverkan med sjukvården. Detta kräver tekniska lösningar med hög nivå på säkerhet, dataintegritet och interoperabilitet, som måste utvecklas i samverkan med ingenjörer och utvecklare vid andra organisationer. Datamängderna är ofta stora och komplexa, vilket medför höga krav både på mjukvara och infrastruktur. Av särskild vikt blir lösningar för meta-datahantering och integration av datamängder från t.ex. biobanker, kvalitetsregister, kliniska prövningar, storskaliga molekylära mätdata och andra hälsodata. I ditt arbete som data steward kommer du arbeta direkt med datahantering, dels genom stöd till olika projekt och aktiviteter, men även genom att arbeta med ingenjörer och utvecklare i utvecklingen av datatjänster för området.

Kvalifikationskrav:

Vi söker efter flera kvalificerade biostatistiker med delvis varierande arbetsuppgifter, i upp till två år. En tjänst kommer delas mellan enheten för biostatistik och CBB. Ytterligare en tjänst kommer baseras i Dr Hannes Hagströms forskargrupp vid KI Syd som har ett tätt samarbete med båda enheterna. Gruppen har ett fokus inom leversjukdomar, men tjänsten erbjuder också arbete för framför allt CBB.

 
Beskrivning av tjänsterna
En tjänst kommer dela sin tid mellan arbete vid Enheten för Biostatistik vid KI Norr, och vid CBB i KI  Syd. Arbetet på enheten för Biostatistik innebär support till forskare vid KI inom biostatistik inom exempelvis epidemiologi, toxicitet och klinisk, molekylär och genetisk forskning. Arbetet vid CBB fokuserar på stöd genom mentorskap för doktorander och postdocs, utbildning och projektstöd inom statistik för specifika forskningsprojekt. Tjänsten i Hagströms forskargrupp är baserad till 80% i en forskargrupp vid KI Syd, och 20% vid CBB.

Statistikerna kommer ge stöd till dessa enheter genom:

- planering och design av forskningsstudier
- statistisk analys och programmering
- tolkning och spridning av vetenskapliga resultat
- undervisning och seminarier
- databearbetning i samarbete med databasutvecklare
- mentorskap för doktorander och postdocs

Enheten för Biostatistik och CBB kommer kunna erbjuda de nya biostatistikerna god support och en ideal miljö att utvecklas vidare i som forskare och medarbetare. Personerna kommer att få möjlighet att gå kurser, delta i konferenser och workshops, och kommer att involveras i alla aktiviteter inom enheterna.



Vem är du?
En examen i biostatistik, statistik, tillämpad matematik eller likvärdigt område är ett krav för tjänsten. Vidare förväntar vi oss att de sökande har goda kunskaper i vanliga statistiska mjukvaruprogram (t.ex. SAS, Stata, SPSS, R, S-plus). God kommunikationsförmåga är viktigt för tjänsten eftersom samarbete sker med forskare som har olika god kunskap i statistik. Vidare behöver du som söker ha god förmåga att arbeta med många olika uppgifter samtidigt. Vi värdesätter intresse för professionell utveckling inom biostatistik. Tidigare erfarenhet inom forskning eller inom sjuk- eller hälsovårdsområdet är önskvärt men inte ett krav. Erfarenhet av arbete med svenska populationsbaserade register är en särskilt stark merit. För tjänsten i Hagströms forskargrupp är tidigare erfarenhet inom epidemiologi kring leversjukdomar en merit men inget krav.
